Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Impacts

With the novel coronavirus related issues going on in Asia, many industries have been negatively affected.  Thomasnet.com reports that 60% of North American manufacturing companies have been affected in some way.  Also, there has been a huge impact on logistics.  The Port of Los Angeles expects a 25% drop in container volumes for the month of February.

Though these figures are alarming, our clients can feel confident in knowing that Roeck Engineering and Supply remains running at full capacity.  Due to our diverse network, the virus and its impacts have not caused us any material shortages.  Call or email us today for your custom parts quote.  We would also be happy to help with any temporary supply chain solutions as we anxiously wait for the virus to be controlled.

Precision Machining and Fasteners

As with many products, most of the custom steel components and fasteners in the U.S. are made in China. However, Trump’s new tariffs are changing the playing field. For better or worse, it has become increasingly expensive to source from China. Fortunately for Roeck and our customers, we have high quality manufacturing options in Taiwan (currently exempt from the tariffs) and an extensive list of American manufacturing partners. For example, we have sold tens of thousands of precision pins used in marine actuators that were made in Taiwan.

Presentation – “Scaling Up”

Portland business events, scaling up!

Later this month I will be speaking at Portland Made’s June Maker Meetup. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to share my experiences. I plan to arm businesses local to Portland with information that will improve their production.
All are welcome, and the knowledge I will be sharing can translate to any local business or startup in any city.
